
Biography
Alberto Navarra came to widespread public attention in the spring of 2022 as winner of the flute category at the Carl Nielsen International Competition in Odense, Denmark. The competition jury noted his combination of charisma and poise, culminating in a scintillating performance of Carl Nielsen’s Flute Concerto.
Alberto was born in Mondovì, Italy, in 1997. He began his studies under Maurizio Valentini at the Ghedini Conservatory in Cuneo. He later studied with Andrea Manco and moved to the Accademia Internazionale di Imola and Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome with Andrea Oliva.
At the Queen Sofia Academy in Madrid he was a scholarship student under Jacques Zoon and Salvador Martinez Tos and was decorated as the school’smost outstanding student. He has been awarded scholarships by Francesco and Marina Moncada di Paternò and the Fundación Albéniz.
Alberto performed as a member of the Berliner Philarmoniker, Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Haydn Stifftung in Bolzano, and "La Fil" Orchestra Filarmonica di Milano. He was a member of several Ensemble and is soon to record Carl Nielsen’s Flute Concerto with the Odense Symphony Orchestra for the British label Orchid Classics.
This season, Alberto joins the Berliner Philharmoniker as a member of the prestigious Karajan Akademie, studying and performing alongside world renowned flautists Emmanuel Pahud, Sebastian Jacot and the entire BPO flute section. He will also give performances of the Nielsen and Mozart flute concerti with the Aarhus Symfoniorkester and Odense Symfoniorkester.
